Dr. Ross Greene is the Author of The Explosive Child. Explosive children, or explosive kids, are children and adolescents described by Dr. Ross Greene—in his books The Explosive Child (1998; 2001; 2005) and Lost at School (2008) as being compromised in the skills of flexibility/adaptability, frustration tolerance, and problem solving, resulting in frequent and sometimes severe temper outbursts and noncompliance. Dr. Greene also delineated a treatment model called Collaborative Problem Solving for helping such youth in families, schools, and restrictive therapeutic facilities. First described in The Explosive Child by Dr. Ross W. Greene, the terms explosive kids or explosive children was also used a few times in The Oprah Winfrey Show.
